It’s the season for sneezing, wheezing, itchy eyes and scratchy throats. While spring is a time of beautiful renewal, it’s also a season when allergies rear their ugly head.
The IgE Response
With allergies, there is usually something within the person’s environment that exacerbates their immune system, and spikes what’s called an IgE response. The body has receptors to sense when there’s something in the environment. It may be dust or pollen, for example.
The body is intelligent. It’s going to secrete a lot of mucus to create a response in the body, where it’s trying to push this dust, mold or other allergens in the person’s body out. That is why people get an increase in mucus and fluid in their eyes and nose. It’s just the body’s inability to adapt that causes these bothersome mucus reactions.
Allergies Both New and Old
While you can get allergies at any age, typically people have a history of them, and their immune system is a little more sensitive to allergens like pollen and dust.
Sometimes when people change cities, environments, or have new stress in their house, they can experience allergies. People who work outside may have more allergy symptoms, as well as those who work in dusty environments. If you live in an older home, you may suffer more from allergies as well.
How Getting Adjusted May Help
With pollen in the air, many people suffer from allergies in the spring. We see lots of people who come into our office with an increase in sinus pressure.
Whether the culprit is pollen, grass or another allergen, allergy sufferers want relief.
While over-the-counter medication can address symptoms, they don’t get to the root. Chiropractic care does. It’s incredibly effective in addressing allergies naturally.
There are some things we can do for kids, families, and parents to support their immune system, and also open up their sinuses and ears to help the body function and adapt better to its environment. By getting adjusted, the body can heal and thrive through the increase in stress on it in the form of dust or other allergens.
A person will likely experience improvements within a few visits. The amount of care varies from person to person.
